Does anybody else feel like they’re coming out of hibernation? We had a warm spell in February that tricked my body into thinking it was spring. Seeing as we’re *almost* there, I thought I’d share with you some of the best oils and ingredients to give you an awakening boost.

Basil

Basil is such a wonderfully energising oil. The smell of it reminds me of my garden in the springtime. Because of how energising it is, we only recommend using it in the daylight hours. In the evening, if you switch to something like lavender, you can feel your body slowing down for the night ahead. It keeps you alert and motivated, which is just what we all need when faced with a spring clean or a busy working day.

Geranium

Whenever we do Maya Rey events, I go on about geranium so much, people are probably bored of listening. This is just such a lovely essential oil and it’s suited to women, so maybe that’s why it speaks to me more. It’s great for the reproductive system, menopause and menstrual¬†cycle. The reason this particular oil makes it into our spring round-up, though, is the scent. It has a delicious floral smell with rose undertones, so it’s not too sickly sweet; the perfect combination.

Rose

Speaking of rose, this is also a fantastic spring oil, too. I think all the floral scents are particularly popular because people see spring as a time to plant and grow. Typically, I would use rose oils in times of stress, but the reason I’m mentioning it here is because of its properties which help with insomnia. When we are feeling more energetic, there’s a tendency to overthink and overcommit. A rose-based product will help turn those little niggles off in your mind.

Ylang Ylang

There’s a reason we blended Ylang Ylang and roses together to make our rose petal bath salts. This essential oil helps promote feelings of happiness, joy and gratitude. It’s a popular one for people doing chakra work (it’s said to help the sacral and solar plexus chakras). It’s also great to relieve the feeling of stress and anxiety, which is exactly the uplifting frame of mind we like to be in going into spring.
